Can you share the story of how you got started in digital marketing and what inspired you to pursue this career?

“I worked for a software company in marketing and really enjoyed every aspect of what the digital realm held. Our oldest daughter was ill when she was little and I spent a lot of time taking her to appointments. I felt like I was unable to give 100% to my role, while balancing an increase in her appointments. My husband was amazing and suggested I start a business with the ability to work from home. I partnered with a web developer while I handled the strategy and design, which led into digital marketing and our desire to provide complete digital solutions.”

 

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when you first started your business, and how did you overcome them?

“People, always people. Finding the right fit for our team as it’s grown has always been the biggest challenge. Second to that, setting boundaries with myself and clients, and third, getting over myself and showing my face on social media.”

 

How has your approach to digital marketing evolved since you first started, and what major changes have you observed in the industry?

“Digital marketing is constantly changing and if you don’t keep your finger on the pulse, you can get left behind quickly. Our approach to digital marketing is people-first, and the main focus for us is meeting the people behind the brand, accessing or developing the ‘why’, and then telling their story. When we first started, everything was solely based on analytics and now storytelling is the hub of how we develop a digital marketing strategy for our wonderful clients. “

 

Can you describe a turning point or a major success early in your career that significantly impacted your business’s growth?

“A major turning point in our career was partnering with Salmon Arm Economic Development Society, Shuswap Economic Development Society and the District of Sicamous Development Corporation. These collaborations allowed us to leverage their resources to create community connections and host free workshops that benefit both our clients and the broader community. Another standout success was the 55+ BC Games, which showcased our ability to manage and deliver large-scale projects effectively. These partnerships not only boosted our visibility and credibility but also demonstrated the tangible impact we could have. The Canadian Digital Adoption Plan (CDAP) grant was another significant milestone, as it helped our clients secure funding and achieve their goals. If you don’t know about it, you should. Through all of these efforts, we set a strong foundation for future growth and solidified our commitment to making a meaningful difference in our community.”

 

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in digital marketing or looking to start their own business?

“Just start. Overcoming imposter syndrome, trusting your gut, staying up to date on trends, knowing and utilizing the tools – including AI –  and deciding that you would rather be respected than liked are the best ways to set yourself up for success.”

 

How do you identify and target your ideal audience in your digital marketing campaigns?

“Market research. Building out buyer personas and creating a minimum of three avatars that embody the differences of subsets within the target market is the best way to begin. If you don’t know who you’re marketing to, how they want or need to be communicated with, how they prefer to digest content and when and ultimately what they’re trying to accomplish with a product or service, it’s our belief that a campaign will struggle. “

 

What role do analytics and data play in your decision-making process for digital marketing strategies?

“I love this question. Analytics are a crucial piece to any marketer because we live in a world where we constantly give our information away to apps, platforms, etc. for the perceived value they provide. This information helps us tailor brand interactions, target ads, post content at a time we know our audiences are ready to engage, and also continually evolve the strategy for how these interactions are performing. “

 

How do you balance creativity with data-driven strategies in your digital marketing efforts?

“We prioritize creativity, using data to enhance our creative strategies. Analyzing data provides valuable insights and lessons, enabling us to refine our campaigns and innovate continually. This balance ensures our marketing efforts are both imaginative and effective.”

 

What future trends or innovations in digital marketing are you most excited about, and how do you plan to incorporate them into your strategies?

“AI is one of the most interesting tools we’ve encountered. We currently use AI for data analysis, customer personalization, and process automation. It helps us create highly targeted campaigns and improve user experiences. As AI evolves, we’re exploring new applications like predictive analytics, advanced chatbots, and machine learning for content creation. We believe AI will continue to transform digital marketing, and we are committed to integrating its advancements into our strategies to stay ahead of the curve.”

“Our incredible team. I am surrounded by a group of creative, collaborative, and ambitious women committed to breaking ceilings and making a meaningful difference. Their dedication, passion, and hard work drive everything we do, building trust, loyalty, and a sense of partnership that transcends the digital space.
